Death Statistics

Death Statistics KIC allows you to create statistics on Kansas resident deaths (see residency definition) by cause, year, age-group, sex, race, Hispanic origin, and county. Select row and column variables to define the table of results. Use filters in optional step 2 to limit results. The most current year for Death Statistics KIC is 2024. See the Death Statistics Notes and Limitations for more information on this dataset and how it was prepared. For map presentation "Death Map".

On April 1, 2016, population estimates were updated with the newly released 2000-2009 intercensal population estimates, produced by the U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates program. Introduction of the intercensal estimates could alter any results (rates / percentages) captured prior to April 1, 2016. For more detail, regarding population estimates, see KIC’s Notes & Limitations, section “Population Estimates”.

NOTE: Area lists will be "greyed out" and non-selectable except for the areas related to the category selected above. To select multiple areas in a give category, hold "Ctrl" Key down while making choices. See "Help & Notes" for further instructions.

Select which 'Cause of Death' you wish to view from the following list. If you have selected 'Cause of Death' as your row variable, you may select multiple causes by holding down the control key and selecting the ones you want with the mouse pointer.
An asterisk (*) marks causes designatd by the NCHS as rank-able in choosing leading causes of death. A double asterisk (**) mark pairs of causes which together constitute one rank-able cause. 		You can pick how you want to view the data:
